05-06/09/26 Hackney Surf Bus 2 days trip to North Cornwall
2 Days Surfing in North Cornwall – Bude
This trip takes us to the Bude area of North Cornwall – a stretch of coast often overlooked by London surfers, despite offering great punchy waves, wild beaches and generally quieter line-ups.
The bus will leave London on Friday for the full trip (check our calendar), but you can join us for just the weekend by train, saving yourself the long journey from London. We’ll pick you up from Okehampton station and take care of all the driving from there.
Bringing your own surfboard? We can transport it from London for you, so you don’t have to take it on the train.
We aim to get in at least two surf sessions over the weekend, conditions permitting, with plenty of time to explore the coast and social evening.
You can camp with us or arrange your own accommodation around Bude. If you stay elsewhere, we can drop you off after surfing.
What’s included
• All transfers from Okehampton and throughout the weekend
• Return transport to London on Sunday
• Camping accommodation – shared camping equipment and your camping pitch are included
• Campfire & BBQ facilities
If you prefer to bring and use your own tent, there is an additional campsite charge of £5 per person, per day.
If you prefer to stay indoors, we can drop you at accommodation around Bude. Please discuss this with us before booking.
Surfing
We’ll choose where to surf around Bude according to the conditions on the day.
Surf equipment and lessons are not included in the trip price.
As a guide:
• Surf lesson including equipment: around £40
• Equipment-only rental: around £25 per day
Experienced surfers are welcome to bring their own equipment.
Food
Food is not included. We normally chip in together for supplies and cook/eat socially at camp.
Pick-up
Okehampton Station – 11:30am
Okehampton is approximately 45 minutes from the surf. We’ll meet you at the station and take you to the coast.
Sunday drop-offs
Paddington – approximately 10:30pm
London Fields – approximately 11:15pm
Times are approximate and can vary depending on traffic and the conditions on the day.
Bringing your board from London
If you want to bring your own board but don’t want to take it on the train, you can leave it with us in Hackney before the trip.
We may also be able to collect your board – please contact us to discuss this before booking.
The Hackney Surf Bus way
This is deliberately a relaxed trip without a rigid itinerary. We follow the surf forecast, weather and what the group feels like doing.
The aim is simple: surf, explore the coast, camp, meet new people and come back to London feeling like you’ve been away for much longer than a weekend.
UK surf season is starting soon, and Hackney Surf Bus will be running regular trips whenever the conditions look good.
Over the last three months, Hackney Climb Bus https://www.instagram.com/hackney.climb.bus/ has run 20+ trips and taken more than 350 people outdoors to climb, surf, explore and meet like-minded people.
As the main outdoor climbing season winds down, we’ll be putting more focus on surf trips to the coast.
The plan is to check the forecast each Monday/Tuesday and announce trips for the following weekend when conditions look good.
Some trips will be two days and some three days – and you’ll often be able to join or leave by train, making the trips much easier to fit around work.
And if you have your own surfboard, we can transport it from and back to London for you.
